Yes we are moving . . .

Yep, it's true. Our next chapter is unfolding. Fourteen years ago, Chris and I began a new life together just south of Denver. Several moves later and 1500 miles away, we find ourselves being drawn back to Colorado. This time to Colorado Springs.

I was approached by the city utility, and while I normally turn down opportunities immediately, there was something about this one. A few months and an emotional decision later, here we go.

A recent article stated you go to Denver in your 20s then migrate down to the Springs to raise a family. It all really does make sense as the schools have amazing ratings compared to where we are today. I also feel quite safe with Fort Carson, two Air Force bases and the Air Force Academy minutes away.

Some may ask why not Florida, I mean we love Disney, right?  Well, it just isn't in the cards right now. Make no mistake there will still be an annual 7-10 day vacation, but now we have to fly.

So I am turning in my awesome 48 story (786 feet) building for 14,115 feet of Pike's Peak in my backyard. I can only imagine how much my boys are going to love the mountains of Colorado!  Plus there are no Mosquitos, per the Internet, and isn't everything true that you read on the Internet?  I say that as we have determined that W is allergic to them, so one more pro for a 1500 mile move in July.

My last day at the Ronald McDonald House was today, it was a difficult to say goodbye to my family there.  Many hugs and tears were shed.

It was also my last day at Duke Energy and after 8.5 years I walked off the floor and descended the elevator alone.

Stay tuned as we pack up and head west in our covered wagon with our iPads and cell phones. I am sure to post lots of stories, pics and factoids.

Oh and say a prayer for my little ones as they have to be strapped into those awful car seats for 24 hours or more and our Rebel and Dixie that have to ride in the back.  I don't think the pups have ever ridden in the car that long even after adding up all their car trips.

Our adventure begins now . . .
